I Pledge Myself Not To Text While Driving…

Apparently there’s new initiative brought to my interest. The Road Safety Department has established a campaign, ‘Malaysians Unite For Road Safety’ or in short MUFOR. The idea of the campaign is to increase awareness among us road users on how important it is to be a vigilant driver. The plan of course is to get 250,000 pledges by 9 September 2009 (09/09/09, cool date eh). Here’s a little bit about the website:

Everyday we are bombarded with news of road accidents that often result in fatalities. The numbers are alarming as recent statistics from the Road Safety Department show that an average of 18 people are killed in road accidents everyday in Malaysia. The lives lost not only weigh heavily on the families that mourn them, but the country as well, for the passing of each of the thousands of lives lost on the road every year has an impact on the fabric of society and the economy.
But who is responsible for these very worrying numbers? We are quick to blame others and point out their weaknesses but unfortunately, we overlook the fact that we are often just as guilty of committing the same offenses and indulging in the same driving habits that lead to accidents. This vicious cycle has escalated to the point that many drivers no longer even think twice before doing something that they shouldn’t – it's as simple as "everyone else does it, why can't I?"
MUFORS is a community project that was set up not only to empower you, the Rakyat, to voice out your thoughts and concerns on road safety in the country but more importantly as a platform for all of us to take a minute to think about how we as road users can do our part to making our roads safer for all.
"Malaysians Unite for Road Safety" Day will fall on 9th September, 2009 (090909). In conjunction with MUFORS 090909, we are calling on all Malaysians to make a pledge on how to reduce accidents and save lives, and to honour these pledges on Wednesday, the 9th of September, 2009 between the hours of 9:00am-to-9:00pm. Our fervent hope is that these pledges honoured over a 12-hour period will transform into a lifetime of change.
Isn't it time we took matters into our own hands? Let's start taking responsibility for our own actions and pledge to save lives, our own and that of others, today. Let Malaysians Unite for Road Safety!

You can pledge yourself by typing in your pledge in the website or send in a photo or video pledge if you feel like being creative. Besides pledging, you can actually vote the top 5 most annoying driving habits. There are tones to choose from. At the moment, I believe the most popular vote goes to aggressive tailgaters (you know, the ones giving their high beams miles before reaching you, just cucuk-ing around your rear bumper. That’s just damn annoying man.So anyway, I’ve done my part (don’t believe me? There’s a screenshot of my pledge after the jump), and I have told you about this. So, go on to the website and pledge yourself! Together we can make a difference:)

What Happens When You Bring Your Car To Work..Literally

I've been waiting to upload this video for ages and there's always something that came up like connection problems at work, etc2. This could be the funniest clip ever aired on an episode of Top Gear. The great Jeremy Clarkson took a car from the 60's for a spin and to work, quite literally. You're gonna love this!

Malaysian Taxi Drivers, Wannabe Posers & Brawn Domination: My Two Cents Worth

My internet connection back in my home in Malacca is not working, so I can only update my blog during the weekend. Anyway, a few things caught my attention throughout the week. One comes from a comment sent by a reader in The Star's webpage about the disgrace of our very own Malaysian taxi drivers. We have heard so much about them; about them overcharging their fares, not using their metres, being snobbish and rude, and picky about destinations. In a way, they have portrayed such a bad image towards Malaysia. The government has spent millions of ringgits in tourism, promoting Malaysia as 'truly Asia', yet the attitude does not represent Asia at all. According to the reader, even taxis in the Philipines and Thailand are better and more ahead than us, not to mention our closest neighbour, the Singaporeans. Are we too late or is there still something up on the Government's sleeves to solve this problem? All Malaysians ever want is a decent ride to get us from A to B with comfort, drove by a decent, well-mannered Malaysians. You may search in Google for answers, but may I suggest the search engine in The Star as a good start to understand to the core the frustrations faced by all of us. Dear CVLB (Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board), do something!

Thursday was the Malaysian premierre of the long awaited Fast and Furious. This time, it goes back old skool (yeah, just like the first movie). Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster (damn she's hot!) is back in action. I would not say it is as good as the original (nothing beats the original), but an entertaining action flick I must say. I would give it a 7 out of 10. Actually I'm not here to comment about the movie. You've got to see it for yourself! What I'm interested to write about is what happens after that. My friends and I were queuing up to pay the parking ticket, and there it was; a bunch of immature wannabe posers who suddenly acted as if the're in the movie. They started revving their not so powerful engines to the max, trying to create a scene with hope everyone starts to admire of their ride's 'potential'. I mean come on! it's not that you're riding a R-34, a Sylvia or even a Golf GTi!! You guys drove only a mere timid Proton Satria with some add-ons and mods. Big deal! If you asked me, I'm not at all impressed. You will get my attention and respect if you're in one of those real rides. And the funny thing is, those who are in this genuine rides did not show off at all. They acted all poised and cool. Not like them posers. God I hate them. At one them, I just wished them to bang at some lamp post or wall or something. That will teach them a lesson.

Anyway, today is the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Sepang. It's the tenth anniversary of Malaysia organising this prestigious event, and yours truly is going! Formula 1 has always been my regular staple in my life calendar. And looking at the qualifying yesterday, Brawn has done it again! Button has scored yet another pole. Wow, this underdog is a must watch. The favourites (Ferrari, McLaren & BMW) have not been impressive in the track. Well, today is the race day, and we'll see if Brawn can do it again! You know what, I'm gonna look up for a Brawn cap. I have 'switched' my allegiance to Brawn GP (Sorry Sauber!). To top things up, Jamiroquai will be performing in a post race concert. Hopefully the weather is on our favour, and we're promised to a top notch racing action.

Till the next post. Vroom Vroom!

Prepare Yourself To Say 'Whoaaaa...'

Another interesting found, courtesy of ZTH.

The premise is simple: two F1 fans hack a McLaren RC car to run off Bluetooth, using their Blackberry Storm to control it. They run the “Office GP” over the weekend, instead of the “important work” they were supposed to do.

The two working lads, Simon and Steve, are supposed to look like two normal guys who have a good time and upload the fun to YouTube. Then McLaren bosses see the video, and decide to have a word.

McLaren decides to adapt the video full-scale, by installing Bluetooth receivers on Lewis Hamilton’s car. Much to the amazement of Simon and Steve, Hamilton himself shows up to the track in Portugal and takes the car for a spin, remotely using his Blackberry Storm to control the McLaren MP4-24 racer.

So is it real, or not? Well, considering BMW did the same thing with Hewlett Packard and there are countless videos and demonstrations of driver-less cars driving around, we don’t see how this could not happen.

by Zack Newmark of World Car Fans

So, sounds too cool to believe it? I'll let the video decide it for you. Roger and out!

Stupidity At Its Best....

Hey peeps, it's almost 6pm and I'm still at the office. I was browsing through ZTH and I found this video of arrogance and stupidity portrayed by some of our Malaysian drivers; tailgating ambulance during heavy traffic. I think I shall leave you with the video, and the comments the forumers have thrown for your own reading pleasure, haha (and feel free to add up yours too). And guess what? One of the forumers actually got the details of that retarded bugger from Friendster! Hah, take that you fucking assholes! Let the bashing begins...

Upgrades For My Ride...

I have started some basic upgrades for my new ride. My dad and I went to this place, AK Car Audio & Alarm here in TTDI (we have been a regular customer to this shop, the tauke, Ken provides superb quality work) to get some window tinting done. We got the top notch tint, 3M Crystalline series for the whole lot; windshields and side windows. 3M is one of the big household names and is synonymous with quality. I have been reading through LYN forums and the forumers got nothing but positive feedbacks toward its performance. For safety purposes, we've asked Ken to do some wiring work for the door auto lock (basically, the door will be locked when you press the brake pedal). You can never be too careful, especially when you stop at traffic lights. Then, suddenly my dad noticed on this coil mats they have at their store. My dad was suddenly like, 'Why don't we get this as well? Ask him to cut to fit it nicely into the car.' I couldn't agree more. I don't want to stain the original carpets. All is done, 2K has just ka-ching!

Then today Yaya and I went to The Curve area to look for some mengarut stuffs. On top of my head; pillow for my car, tissue box, some comical signs people usually put at their rear windshields, and non-slip mats. We managed to get 2 from those. Got myself a nice pillow from Ikea (like d'uh, where else?) and the non-slips. No great signs found worthy for my car, and I'm still looking for the tissue box. Well, till the next search then. Up next, I'm sending my ride for some polishing works. Can't wait for my car to get all shiny shiny. Later...

Finally...Welcome Home Honda City!

I'm sorry i could only update my blog now. A lot of things had happened in the office, and with my laptop still having that screen problem, I just don't have the urge to post anything. Well, not today! coz I have something to talk about, my new car is finally home! My mum and I went to the dealership this morning around 11ish. We were briefed about the typical stuff, warranty issues, insurance, registration, things in the manual, yada yada yadaa..Then we checked out the car, perform the routine inspection, removed the annoying plastic seat covers..Before we left, the SA took a picture of my first memory getting a new car! I am so excited of finally driving it for the first time. So far so good, managed to make full use of its Advanced Audio system with my iPod. Interfacing is seemless, and the sound system (for a stock, factory installed audio system) is not bad at all. I was surprised with the quality. As for the drive quality, I can't really comment much, since the car at the moment only clocked 70km, and I'm not supposed to rev the car more than 100km/h (typical practice of handling a new car: to have a break in period of 1000km), but everything is OK so far. My only concern right now is the vibrating sounds from the side of the door. It's not much, it you can feel the vibration sounds when you kick the volume up a notch. Maybe it has something to do with its insulation. The side doors seemed a bit hollow anyway. Nvm, we'll look into that. For now, let me just enjoy my new ride. Up next, window tinting, and some accesorizing, huhu...
More pics will be taken and uploaded. Later!

Valentine's Gift Idea: A Lambo Heels?

Haha, check this out. This was taken from Zero To Hundred website of what is later found as a mock advertisement (even I actually believed that it was real at first!)

Own several Lamborghini’s? Can’t get enough of the Italian raging bull? Did you also happen to recently piss off one of your many mistresses? Then here’s your chance to make it up to her this Valentine’s by donning her in one of these seriously hot Lamborghini high heels. That’s right, high f’in heels.

But here’s the catch, there are some things that money just can’t buy and this is sadly one of them. Enterprising CGSociety member, Tim Cooper, created these ultra-fine (and likely ultra-lightweight) white and carbon fiber Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera high heels using a pair of his wife’s heels and hundreds of Gallardo images from around the ‘net. He modeled and rendered them in Modo and added the smoke and text in Photoshop for this mock advertisement.

We are sorry if you jumped into you Lambo and sped off in search of these heels but we’re hoping you didn’t mention anything or show this to your mistress because then, you’d really have to make it up to her once she finds out its not available. As for these heels, chances are, you might just find a pair at selected stores in a few months time. Ferrari to follow suit with ultra red hot heels? Wait and see.

Dammit! I am supposed to do my final study for tomorrow's ACD...I'm gonna be screwed. 2 days of late nights, when the heck am I supposed to study...arghhhhh screw it ACD! I'll just answer whatever I can...details to be posted tomorrow...

One After The Other...

How's it going people? I've been lil' bit occupied these 2 days. Arrived in KL at about 9pm last night. Relatives from Kelantan are here for a few days. We went for dinner, and head to Abe Ja's house in Damansara Damai for a visit. Enyel was not feeling well (which explains his lack of energy to amuse people)

Then this morning, we went to 1 Utama. I have my own agenda going there. I am gonna shoe-shop! I have decided that I will make this year a start on the healthy lifestyle. And so, I've decided to start jogging during the weekends (or whenever I'm free). So, headed to Nike. Been a fanatic and fanboy of Nike products since like forever (sorry Adidas, but you kinda suck), got myself the Lunar Trainer running shoes (costed me RM15 shy of RM400), and a 3/4 Nike Fit pants. I went back home, feeling so bersemangat to start my jogging quest. Then at about 5ish, went to sent my relatives to LCCT. On my way back, went for a short stop at Naza Peugeot's showroom in TTDI Plaza. The 308's are there (VTi and Turbo) waiting to be tested. I looked at my watch; it's already 7pm. Dammit! I'll make time to come to test the French hottie tomorrow then.

Indeed I am in a dilemma. I've booked the new Honda City, and now the French hottie caught my attention. To make things 'interesting', the SA Honda all of a sudden called me. That damn bugger! macam tau2 pulak aku nak usha Peugeot..Anyway, I didn't answer his call, he left a message; my car should be available by the end of the month. I can't give my final answer till I have tested the 308. Sexy body, a powerplant similarly used by the MINI Cooper, continental interior setup, what's not to like? Well, we'll find out tomorrow. Honda or Peugeot? Japanese or French chick? Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Owh, before I forget..the acts to perform at Sunburst KL 2009 has been announced. Looking at the lists, honestly speaking, the line-ups kinda suck! Big time! Who the fuck is gonna pay 200ish to watch some local bands (which we can watch live at Laundry during Campur Chart). And only one international act! (what the fuck is wrong with you Pinapple Concerts!) You brought Incubus, John Legend and many more acts last year. I expected more from you guys! And on top of that, of all the international acts, you brought N.E.R.D? What a disappointment..I have lost my mood to watch the performances. Unless they are planning to announce more later (which is happen to be my sister, Yaya's theory - they will announce the great acts later, so that the public will end up buying the more expensive tickets to watch it), I'm not gonna go! Seriously, I mean it.

Alrighty then, I'm off. Damn, I'm supposed to do a little studying today. Satu hapak pun tak baca, hahaha...oyasumi nasai
