Sunburst KL 09: So, Was It Worth The Money You Paid For The Ticket?

Hey guys, its the end of my work day (at least for today) on a mundane Monday. I haven't updated you guys on Sunburst. So, let me share with you some dirt on it...

We (Yaya, her group of friends, my cousins) went to Bukit Kiara at about 5-ish. We were then 'welcomed' by a long line or parked cars (as usual, what do you expect from this kind of events?). I've decided to park the car on the other side of the road. First things first, we were unnecessarily charged 10 bucks for the 'parking' fee. WTF? This is not a parking lot, we shouldn't pay a cent. Even the so-called parking company is so dodgy; White & Black Parking Management, or something. But, me don't want no trouble. The last thing I need to worry about if my car being scratched hideously, or worse (luckily i didn't take My City).

We then went through the security checks and all, and we entered the polo field area. I already saw two big stages, then there's this X-Pax area with huge X, food stalls on the left. We decided to walk through the area and see anything interesting and worth checking out first. At that time, Russian Winters were performing on stage. We managed to lepak and check out Gerhana Ska Cinta's performance. It was not bad actually, and the crowd is certainly loving it; dancing along the tunes played.

I was there for two reasons actually; Nidji and Naturally 7. Nidji performed right after Estranged's performance. And let me tell you, Nidji's performance was awesome! They did not dissappoint at all! I was not a big fan of Nidji (I only know a few of their songs). But man, after watching their performance, I've decided to find all their songs!

Then there's the big guns; N.E.R.D and Korn. I've been to head banging, rocking show, so I thought, why don't I skipped N.E.R.D, and check out something more...intimate. And so I did just that; I went to see Naturally 7. They performed at a rather small stage. I was early and there were about 10, 15 people waiting for it. Due to that, I managed to slide and booked the front row! And my oh my am I so lucky! Naturally 7 is truly one of a kind. They are truly...something else, something new, fresh and exciting. As soon as they performed half of their first song; hundreds flock into the area, mesmerised by their performance. It was sick and out of this world! I ran out of words to describe the beauty of their performances. Seeing their videos in YouTube is one thing; actually watching it live is....wowwwww. I left the stage after performance, with such a joyful feeling. I am so looking forward to seeing their live performances in Malaysia again! (please please come again..you know how crazy we are about you, can;t you hear us screaming with joy?haha)

We left Sunburst, feeling satisfied (in a nutshell) and head for a late supper. So, was it worth the money? Well, if you ask me, since I bought the early bird ticket, which cost me RM150 bucks, seeing Nidji and Naturally 7 was all worth it. But, if I have to pay more, I would think a few times before actually buying it. 300 bucks, in my opinion is a bit too much for that acts lined up for this year. Korn was OK (as expected from a hardcore rock band). N.E.R.D was not bad either (according to my cousin's feedback). But the rest, is just...common, something you can really see without actually going to Sunburst. Anyway, I think Pineapple Concerts did a good job, given the economic slowdown this time around. So, kudos to you guys.

Till the next post...Oh, pics will be updated later. So stay tune! Peace!

Random Rants On A Saturday Morning

Hope you are guys are enjoying your weekends. I hope I am. My morning starts with me going for my rides first service. Technically speaking it's not service. it's just a routine inspection done to ensure that my car is running as it should be. As for the fuel consumption, apparently I'm not the only one with a problem; other customers have been talking about the same issue as well. The service advisor advised to wait for the 5000km service and the oil change, where it should improve the FC. We'll see then. Other than that, I think I'm ready to take my car for a bit of a stretch somewhere in the highway.

Well, today's is the day; Sunburst KL is finally here. Expect some fun time rocking your socks off with performances from local and international acts. I only found out recently that Erykah Badu has canceled her appearance here. Not sure why, but hope that would not really affect the quality of this years fest.

I'm also looking forward to checking out the hot air balloons at Putrajaya. Probably I'll check it out tomorrow then. Till then, stay tune for my posts. Again, have a good weekend!

Naturally 7, I'm Gonna Be Brief..Brilliant!

Peeps, check this out. They are 1 of the acts who will be performing in the upcoming Sunburst KL 09 festival. I started to have doubts of coming to this fest due to the non-existent of interesting acts, but after watching these clips, my hopes are restored! May I present to you, Naturally 7...

One After The Other...

How's it going people? I've been lil' bit occupied these 2 days. Arrived in KL at about 9pm last night. Relatives from Kelantan are here for a few days. We went for dinner, and head to Abe Ja's house in Damansara Damai for a visit. Enyel was not feeling well (which explains his lack of energy to amuse people)

Then this morning, we went to 1 Utama. I have my own agenda going there. I am gonna shoe-shop! I have decided that I will make this year a start on the healthy lifestyle. And so, I've decided to start jogging during the weekends (or whenever I'm free). So, headed to Nike. Been a fanatic and fanboy of Nike products since like forever (sorry Adidas, but you kinda suck), got myself the Lunar Trainer running shoes (costed me RM15 shy of RM400), and a 3/4 Nike Fit pants. I went back home, feeling so bersemangat to start my jogging quest. Then at about 5ish, went to sent my relatives to LCCT. On my way back, went for a short stop at Naza Peugeot's showroom in TTDI Plaza. The 308's are there (VTi and Turbo) waiting to be tested. I looked at my watch; it's already 7pm. Dammit! I'll make time to come to test the French hottie tomorrow then.

Indeed I am in a dilemma. I've booked the new Honda City, and now the French hottie caught my attention. To make things 'interesting', the SA Honda all of a sudden called me. That damn bugger! macam tau2 pulak aku nak usha Peugeot..Anyway, I didn't answer his call, he left a message; my car should be available by the end of the month. I can't give my final answer till I have tested the 308. Sexy body, a powerplant similarly used by the MINI Cooper, continental interior setup, what's not to like? Well, we'll find out tomorrow. Honda or Peugeot? Japanese or French chick? Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Owh, before I forget..the acts to perform at Sunburst KL 2009 has been announced. Looking at the lists, honestly speaking, the line-ups kinda suck! Big time! Who the fuck is gonna pay 200ish to watch some local bands (which we can watch live at Laundry during Campur Chart). And only one international act! (what the fuck is wrong with you Pinapple Concerts!) You brought Incubus, John Legend and many more acts last year. I expected more from you guys! And on top of that, of all the international acts, you brought N.E.R.D? What a disappointment..I have lost my mood to watch the performances. Unless they are planning to announce more later (which is happen to be my sister, Yaya's theory - they will announce the great acts later, so that the public will end up buying the more expensive tickets to watch it), I'm not gonna go! Seriously, I mean it.

Alrighty then, I'm off. Damn, I'm supposed to do a little studying today. Satu hapak pun tak baca, hahaha...oyasumi nasai

Sunburst 09 Is Coming..To Town...

Well well well, looks like the great Sunburst Festival is back baby! (hopefully better, fingers crossed). For those of you alienated people out there, Sunburst is basically a big-ass music festival, featuring some unbelievable, house-rocking high octane performances, local and foreign. Last year, 28 acts participated in this grand-scale event, from the great John Legend, Incubus, The Roots to the rising local indie tunes of Hujan, Meet Uncle Hussein, Pop Shuvit and many more...

Once again, the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club will be hosting this sensational event. Pinapple Concerts, the festival producer is well renowned for bringing great acts performing in KL such as the Black Eyed Peas, Simple Plan, Incubus, as well as the upcoming Rihanna concert!. So you know that they mean business, and this festival will be off the hook!

For starters, I have purchased the early bird tickets worth RM143 (normal price: RM200). Although they have yet to announce the acts to perform this year, my Sunburst 08 experience did not dissappoint me at all, and I thought it's worth the gamble..

Check out their website for updates.
